2026-2027 Middle School Sports Information
Updated Smyrna School Board Policy Regarding Middle School Athletics for the 2026-2027 school year.
***All 6th and 7th grade eligble athletes at Clayton Middle School and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade eligible athletes at Smyrna Middle School will tryout for and play for one team under Smyrna Middle Schools sports schedule***
Important Dates (Fall 2026):
July 1st, 2026 - This link can only be used by students using their smyrnaeagles.org account!! Fall Sports Google Form is available!!! All fall athletes trying out need to click the link and follow the prompts and questions. This link can only be used by students using their smyrnaeagles.org account!!
August 19th, 2026 - Meet the Fall Coaches/Physical Turn in night from 3:30 to 5:30 in the SMS multipurpose room. August 19th is also the deadline for the google form sign up and physical turn in for those wishing to tryout/play a fall sport.
August 31st, 2026 - First official day of fall sports (tryouts/practices may begin).
***A DIAA sports physical MUST be completed in its entirety as well as handed in to the school in order to be eligible for sports. Physical information and paperwork can be found below as well as in the powerpoint presentation***
***No up to date, completly finished and signed physical means no tryouts or participation in DIAA sports***
--- It is never too early to get your DIAA physical complete and turned in; its good for the entire academic year --- All DIAA physicals can be dropped off to Smyrna Middle School.

2026-2027 DIAA Physical Information
In order to participate in athletics at Smyrna Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year, student-athletes must meet all academic requirements and have a completed, up-to-date sports physical on file with the Athletic Director. For the 2026-2027 school year, physicals must be on the proper DIAA form and dated 4/1/2026 or later. One physical is good for the entire academic school year. Do not wait until the day of try-outs to get a physical.
"The DIAA pre-participation physical evaluation and consent form consists of seven pages. Pages two, three and five require a parent’s signature while pages six and seven are references for the parent and student athlete to keep. Page four requires the exam date and physician’s signature and page five requires the clearance to participate date and physician’s signature. The student must be cleared to participate on or after April 1 based on a physical examination conducted within 12 months of the signature. The clearance is valid through fall sports of the following school year unless a re-examination is required." - DIAA Medical Governance
